The Cogburn Research Group is a research initiative focused on examining the role of racism in the production of racial inequities in health. Employing a transdisciplinary research strategy, we engage multiple methods to explore the potential of media and technology in eradicating racism and racial inequities in health.

Our current research projects focus on the use of immersive virtual reality, the influence of media and technology, the potential impact of technology in diversity, inclusion and equity efforts and the physiological impacts of racism and racial inequities in health. We utilize multiple research methodologies including, laboratory-based experiments, epidemiological data, and “big data” analytics to examine questions related to our research themes and to achieve our research aims.
